Discover The Project

The Mont Sorcier Iron ore property hosts a large high quality Iron resource with significant and extractable Vanadium in a top tier mining jurisdiction.

The Project takes place in a global context in which the demand for high-grade iron ore has increased in recent years. When used in blast furnaces to produce steel, high-grade iron concentrate contributes to significantly reduce GHG emissions in steel production, since it reduces the amount of energy required for steelmaking.

Processes (such as coal used by steelmakers) or allows the use of electric furnaces. The use of a high-grade iron concentrate thus
contributes to the overall efforts to fight against climate change in the steel industry.

Key Infrastructure and Operating Parameters as Currently Planned

  • Open pit mining using standard drill, blast, haul methodology
  • Material to be milled with iron separated using clean magnetic separation technology
  • Principal new infrastructure to be built are milling and concentrating facilities, maintenance and office buildings, waste rock dumps, tailings pond, rail loading and connection spur to CN mainline
  • Targeted production rate of Mt material mined per year to produce 5.0 Million tonnes of iron and vanadium concentrates
  • Initial mine life of 21 years with potential to extend the mine life. Current mine plan only uses approximately 1/3 of current resources
  • Rail haulage to Port of Saguenay using new rail connection to existing CN rail infrastructure. Typically, 1 train per day on average with 120 gondolas expected based on current plans
